I was looking for the best netbook for the trip. I'm going to 3.5 months of trekking in South America, and I want the netbook for use:
- Back to my pictures and movies from my digital camera and camcorder
- Read my e-mail from time to time
- Skype with my friends and family
- Optional see a movie during a long bus and air travel, or listen to music at night
This means that a good hard drive (160 Go Low, Go 250 is a standard today), goodBattery life (the N450 Intel's previous best processor N270, N450 and savings even more), SDHC card reader and the usual instruments Skype (microphone, webcam, etc..) Moreover, as I perform my things a lot (really recommended 55 Osprey Ariel 10 Backpack - 3350cu in BTW), I needed a netbook, the light is) (about 1 kg and compact. And, finally, that we are a geek, I write to call my 10 fingers and wanted the keyboard, large and comfortable as possible. Itry to write one of netbooks like the MSI Wind, and found it very frustrating because some half the size of the keyboard should be and I always take it in the end are wrong.
Toshiba NB305-410 is the closest I've found the ideal netbook. Netbooks some are lighter than this, of course, but it's usually because they are only 3-cell battery, which means that half the battery life.
The main disadvantage is IMHO not a hardware butSoftware. It comes with Windows 7 starters, what kind of joke (can not change the background image? How ….). It 'also rather install a small program that you want to remove, if you're an experienced user. I hesitate to downgrade to XP or even try Ubuntu, but I think I will give him a chance.
Finally, 1 GB of RAM is low, because of Windows 7 If you save $ 45, you can upgrade to 2 GB: DecisiveTechnology CT25664AC800 2 GB 200-pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 memory modules.
